Every table is an argument about who gets to tell the story.

From a five-seat dinner in Buenos Aires to a sold-out fundraiser in Washington, D.C., each of these gatherings paired a menu with a conversation. I develop the concept, produce the event and host the room.

Jun – Jul 2026Bake Sales for Venezuelan ReliefA fundraising dinner at Osteria Morini and three bake sales, after the twin earthquakes$10,000 raised

In light of the twin earthquakes in Venezuela, I partnered with chef Matt Adler to organize a fundraising dinner at Osteria Morini benefiting World Central Kitchen’s relief efforts. Tickets sold out within two hours of the announcement and raised $4,000. During the dinner I was master of ceremonies. The event was featured in Eater DC’s newsletter.

Afterwards I organized three bake sales alongside chef Genesis Flores, rallying the Venezuelan community in Washington, D.C., together with local chefs, home bakers and small contributors: another $6,000, with donations from more than twenty people.

$10,000 raised for Venezuelan rescue missions and relief funds, including a $4,000 donation to World Central Kitchen.

Created in partnership with Grand Cata in Washington, D.C., this event turned brunch into a cultural experience rooted in Venezuelan nostalgia while resisting cliché or performative representation.

The menu explored Venezuelan breakfast traditions through a contemporary lens, pairing dishes inspired by arepas, pollo en brasa, hallaquitas de maíz and pernil with curated Latin American and Lebanese wines, highlighting immigrant contributions to Venezuelan foodways. Throughout the meal I guided storytelling moments on food culture, diaspora and memory.

Sold out with 20 guests.

A community-centered wine gathering exploring Latin American flavors, migration and storytelling through small bites and conversation. I developed the concept, the menu, the storytelling framework and the communications strategy, aiming for something both educational and deeply social.

The evening paired Latin American wines with nostalgic merienda-inspired bites such as guava croissants and tres leches, the snacks shared across Latin American households in the late afternoon, while inviting guests into conversations about migration, memory and identity.

Sold out with 16 guests in 24 hours.

“Gaby came into our flagship store and curated a ticketed food experience while our team provided a paired wine tasting. Both events had a full house and excellent feedback. Our space typically limits us to charcuterie, but she brought far more depth than our usual food experiences, plus a cultural richness and the chance for guests to learn from someone deeply experienced in her career.”

In collaboration with Hot Girl Supper Club, an intimate supper club centered on women, friendship and cultural storytelling through food, I created and developed the full menu experience: a dinner balancing nostalgia, Venezuelan comfort food and conversation.

Courses included seasonal small plates such as an avocado and hearts of palm salad, shareable mains featuring the Venezuelan polvorosa de pollo, and playful desserts like a passion fruit mousse, designed to make guests linger and pass plates. With Grand Cata, D.C.’s only Latin-American wine shop, we built a pairing of bubbles and grapes from Brazil, Uruguay, Chile and Argentina.

Sold out with 25 guests in 48 hours.

Alongside chef José Eizaga of Proyecto Maíz Pelao, I co-hosted a five-seat educational dinner exploring the tradition and future of nixtamalized corn in Venezuelan cooking, in Buenos Aires.

Chef José guided guests through the nixtamalization process and its role in preserving ancestral corn traditions across Latin America, particularly within the Venezuelan diaspora in Argentina. The dinner featured three arepas made with white, yellow and blue Argentinian corn, each showing how terroir, technique and grain variety shape flavor and texture. I led a conversation on the cultural significance of handmade arepas, the growing distance between industrialized convenience foods and traditional methods, and what it means for immigrant chefs to preserve culinary memory while adapting to new geographies. The dinner was designed not as a tasting but as a conversation about preservation, migration and the labor behind cultural continuity.

I co-hosted an evening of Korean BBQ with chefs Roren and Caleb of Magpie and the Tiger. The first half belonged to the food, a multi-course meal cooked and served at the table. The second half belonged to a conversation I led with both chefs about how they got here.

They spoke about growing up Korean-American, the realities of working in traditional restaurant kitchens, and what it has been like to step away from a brick-and-mortar restaurant to build something on their own terms: collaborations with people they respect, pop-ups with trusted friends, and intimate dinners in private homes.

Every guest left with a copy of the book Korean American and a small selection of take-home Korean souvenirs, a way to carry a piece of the conversation out the door.

What I bring to events

I approach events as editorial experiences, designed to feed people as much as to leave them thinking differently.

Whether the collaborator is a chef, a restaurant, a wine professional or a cultural organization, the work usually includes:

Creative direction and concept development

Storytelling strategy and moderation

Editorial framing and cultural research

Partnership and collaboration support

Guest experience and atmosphere design

Communications and audience development

Multimedia content and event coverage

I am particularly interested in projects that explore migration, preservation, identity, labor and cultural memory through food and hospitality.
